Standard 1.4 Diffusions of Innovation and Change
Candidates research, recommend, and implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and for managing the change process in schools.
Artifact: Action/Evaluation Plan
Reflection:
The Action/Evaluation Plan was created for ITEC 7410, Technology Leadership in Spring 2016. The goal of the Action/Evaluation plan was to put the ideas mentioned in the SWOT Analysis into action. Throughout the creation of this project the following were assigned to each goals: strategies, timeline, budgets, and specific people in charge of the project. When the project was completed, the school had an attainable to increase technology productivity in the building.
The first step of creating the Action/Evaluation plan was research. During the SWOT Analysis, it was fairly easy to list and describe the strengths and weaknesses, but finding a solution took a considerable amount of research. The Action/Evaluation plan reflects my ability to find flaws in the current methods, make suggestions, and recommend practical and attainable solutions that increase learning. Implementing this plan in the coming school years will be fairly easy since each person is assigned specific goals and many of the goals suggested have specific success indicators. The most pressing recommendation in the Action/Evaluation Plan is the creation of the technology committee in the school. As the plan is implemented, the team will work together to ensure that practices originally listed in the Action/Evaluation Plan are still what is best for our students and staff. Based off the evolving school community, the committee will look at the strategies that were researched initially and make recommendations based off the students and the staff that are in the building at that time.
This project and the vast majority of the coursework in Technology Leadership taught me how to think like a problem solver. Admittedly, one thing I frequently complained about was funding. However, when I completed the Action/Evaluation Plan I saw that the majority of our problems could be fixed for a very minimal cost. This artifact taught me not only to identify problems affecting our school, but how to make suggestions and assign personnel to correct them.
The Action/Evaluation Plan directly impacts our local school. It is a plan tailored to helped us excel in our implementation of technology. The plan has specific goals and duties listed to prevent confusion during the implementation. These goals will put the teachers at ease as they continue to search for great tools and strategies to use while they educate all students with technology.
